Inspection Day for Concrete Footing Forms - Did we pass?

Before concrete gets poured in the forms, the inspector from our local building department has to come by and check it all out. Everything must be in place because concrete waits for no body. To ensure site safety and concrete perfection, this is Steve's checklist:

  • Is the rebar installed properly?

  • Is the soil clean and on virgin ground?

  • Is the bottom of the footing below the frostline?

  • Does everything match what is on the plans?

If the answer to each question is an easy yes (which it is) then we're good, right?

Michael Dempsey, the Inspector from the Building Department and Steve.

Steve said he was the most pleasant building inspector he's ever met in his forty plus years in the construction industry. The inspector actually thanked Steve for making his job easy.

Thank you, Michael Dempsey. You rock!

It's a beautiful day for an inspection.

Another super important thing for Steve is to have a clean and neat construction site that is free of trash.

Sammy Safety Says: A clean construction site is a happy construction site.

The inspection was done in less than thirty minutes.

We passed with flying colors! 🥳

The only request was to place caps on the tops of the rebar at the entrance of the constructions site where there's the heaviest people & puppy traffic.

As requested from the inspector, caps have been placed on the rebar at the entrance of the site.

What's up next:

  • Coordinate concrete delivery

  • The concrete pump truck

  • Concrete crew - 4 laborers

  • Timing everything for when the temperature does NOT dip below freezing
