The Property Surveyor located the existing pins that mark the 5 corners of the property, highlighted the markers with orange spray paint, orange ribbon and flags, confirming our property lines and boundaries.
Steve and I walked the perimeter in attempt to find all the markers. The highest point of the property was sprayed orange and flagged. We're calling this the summit, that point was very easy to find. However, combing through the leaves rock and dirt in search for a small boundary pin was exactly like looking for a needle in the haystack. We did not find the pins marking the lower land this time.
Included in the topographical land blueprint (map above) is the spot where the house will be built, called the footprint of the house, within the building envelope. The building envelope is a certain distance within the property lines. Once the property lines are confirmed, he can finalize the location of the building envelope.
This vision is all Steve, by the way. He's built many custom homes from the ground up before. He can look at the rocky hilly woodland and envision it already cleared away and with a house in it. He sees where it will be situated, which direction it will face, how it will nestle into the existing landscape. Not me. That's all Steve.
Steve placed flags on the property marking the driveway centerline, the corners of the house, and a clump of 4 flags marking 2 possible septic field areas. Some flags are where the ATV's pass through. We posted some no trespassing signs around the property. Hopefully the quads and motorbikes will read it and re-route their path. We'll see...
